Overview

Splicey ("we", "our") provides AI-assisted chapters and transcripts for YouTube videos through this website and the Splicey Chrome extension. This policy describes what information is collected, why it is used, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in (magic-link email authentication), we process your email address and a unique account identifier assigned by our authentication provider.
• Usage and billing data. We store your remaining credits and, after you purchase a pack, a Stripe customer identifier linked to your account so purchases can be applied correctly. We do not store full payment card numbers, card security codes, or wallet secrets on our servers.
• Content you ask us to process. When you generate chapters or transcripts, we receive YouTube video identifiers or URLs you submit and related transcript text retrieved for that video in order to run the service. We only process videos when you (or your signed-in session) trigger generation.
• Website sessions. We use cookies and similar mechanisms managed by our authentication provider to keep you signed in on the website.
• Extension data. The Chrome extension stores sign-in tokens and local preferences (such as chapter detail settings and whether the extension is enabled) on your device. It may cache recent chapter results or credit summaries locally to improve performance.

How we use information

• To create and secure your account and sessions.
• To provide chapters, transcripts, credits, and support.
• To process purchases through Stripe and update credit balances.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service (including troubleshooting and fraud prevention).

Payment processing

Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment details according to its own privacy policy. We receive payment confirmations and customer identifiers needed to fulfill credits—we do not replace Stripe's role as payment processor or retain sensitive card data.

Third-party services

We rely on vendors who provide infrastructure under their terms and privacy policies, including authentication and database hosting (Supabase), payments (Stripe), and transcript retrieval where applicable. We share only what those systems require to deliver the features you use.

Chrome extension

The extension interacts only with the origins disclosed in its Chrome Web Store listing—typically YouTube for the in-page UI, Splicey web origins for sign-in messaging, Splicey API endpoints for generation and account data, and the authentication provider for token refresh. Extension executable code is bundled with the extension package; remote endpoints return data (such as JSON), not remotely executed scripts.

Retention

We keep account and billing-related records only as long as needed to operate the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. You may request deletion or export assistance by contacting us using the email below. Some retention may be required by payment processors or law.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). Accounts created for minors should be supervised by a parent or guardian.

Changes

We may update this policy when practices change. The "Last updated" date will reflect revisions. Continued use of the website or extension after changes means acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
